Getting Paid for Writing Stories

One of my friends from the other social networking site suggested this another source of online money. The site requires us to write stories.

A story can be anything you want, can be true or a fiction. You can write something about your daily life or something about a memorable experience.

The only requirement the site requires is to include the keywords they will suggest for the particular job, and will have 400 words or more. The rest of the story is totally up to you.

You can earn even more by referring friends to the site. For every person who join under you, you will get 10$ of their income per story. And there is no limit of how many stories and friends can write. That means more income and more fun.

The site will pay you £0.25 per story. From its home page, you can see how many stories were accepted and your how much money you already earned. Once you balance reaches £10.00 you can request for payment anytime. Payment is made via Paypal, so it's gonna be safe. If you wish, you can also request to receive payment via cheque.

So far, I already submitted three stories and two of them were already accepted.

You can join the site anytime. And it's going to be more fun if you join under me, and my Referral Code is: WOR:0321

Payment Received from myLot

I just received an email message from myLot infroming me that payment for my July's earnings had been sent to my Paypal account. So I immediately check my Paypal account and there I found that it's actually there, USD $11.32.

From Paypal, I just have to withdraw the amount and Paypal will transfer the said amount to my local bank, Union Bank.

Processing fee is 50 pesos for 6,999.99 pesos and it's free if the amount to withdrawn is 7,000 pesos and higher.

Processing will only take 2 to 4 days. So by 16th of August, the money surely be in my Union Bank account. So by then, I'll be richer by $11.32 USD.

Many thanks to myLot.

Power Shutdown in Lapu-Lapu City

Since about 2pm today, the lights are out. We are affected in the office since most of us are using computers. Good for me and one of the other personel who has UPS with our computers.

I pity one staff who is the duty secretary of the day. She has to go back to the same old antique typewriter to finish the complaint. She already had typed the said compaint in her computer but it happened, all systems are out. Sorry for her.

Good thing though for me, that I can still post from my mobile phone. And the mobile provider I have now never shuts down their system here.

I wonder what caused this brown-out in Lapu-Lapu. Is this happening only here? How about the neighboring cities?

Earn Extra Money from myLot

It was about the last week of April 2008 when one of my online friends invited me to join myLot. I was a bit hesitant to join the site because I wasn't sure of myself if I will be able to maintain a lot of sites. Besides, I am not that good in English writing.

It was also my first time to join a forum site. But I found out that myLot is a lot different from what I've heard about forum sites. The site is very user-friendly and users are very friendly too. The sites is a very FUN place to be with.

The best part of being on myLot is the extra money you can get from interacting with friends. You just have to be active in participating in the discussions, you start your own topic, respond to other discussions started by your friends and other users. That's it. You enjoy the community and at the end of the month, you will never know, you already reach the minimum $10.00 earnings and you will be paid for it.

The money you earned for participating in the discussions will be paid to you through Paypal. The usual payout is done on or before the 15th of the following month.

Here is the history of what I have already received from myLot:

April 14, 2009 = $11.00+
October 10, 2008 = $12.00+
August 12, 2008 = $14.00+
July 09, 2008 = $11.00+

As of today, I already reached about $11.00+ for July. I am just waiting until Sunday for my money to be transferred to Paypal.

Bobbie Castañeda: The Unbeatable Best Friend

Bobbie is one of the few people that I met when I first came to Cebu in 1992. He's so easy to come along with, maybe because for one, we came from the same island of Luzon and two, we are both pure Tagalog. We can talk with our own dialect so we can understand more, while in the land of the Visayans.

We both held office in one building in Mandaue City. While he was then managing the courier company, I was then the area technical man of the micrographics company.

We became drinking buddies. We became "kumpare" with my daughter Trisha. He became one of the witnesses in my court wedding.

When micro office closed, I stayed in Cebu with the new company. We transferred to a new office in Cebu City. But our communication continues and we remain to be friends and drinking partners.

The friendship continues and our drinking sessions became more frequent when I resigned from the company I worked with for 6 years, and he hired me to work as computer technician and programmer in his courier office. That made us much closer to each other. And that made me knew him more, deeper as a man.

He is not only the drinking buddy that almost everytime will pay for every bottle of beer you will drink. He will not just pay for the songs you will sing that night but sometimes, he will also pay for the bar fine. He will not go drink somewhere else alone but he will bring someone from the rank of his friends, and sometimes, even the whole bunch of his co-employees and friends.

If anyone in the office has a problem, whether it's a family or money matters, Bobbie will never say "NO". He will try to look at the situation and finds way on how he can be of help, to the best that he can. If he can help the person by giving a job or a better work position, he will do that. He will think of how he can help first, before he will think about himself. I can say that almost everyone in that office, he lend a hand. The most is to give them jobs in that office. And I am one of them.

With all the help he gave to all the people in the office, he still found enemies. He never thought that after giving all the support and help that he can give them, they will still try to put down the man that also helped the company grew from the scratch. Just like a "coup de etat", they tried many times to pull him down. And unfortunately, they succeed.

He lost the job. And he was nowhere to go. But where are his friends? His friends that always comes to him and asked help? Those he thought were his friends so he gave them work in the company? His drinking buddies?

Bobbie isn't perfect as a person, but he is the best friend for me.
He is "bossing" to everyone in the office, but how can you call him now?
Still "bossing" or "pare" or "gwapo"?
It's up to them, it's up to you.

Happy Birthday na lang, Boss Pre!

Two Jobs for Five Years

While I was working with the courier company managed by also a friend of mine, my appointment papers for a government position was released. So I told my friend, that I was leaving the company. He told me that I don't have to go. I can still work for the company while working in the government. I just have to report after office hours. And so, since August of 2003, I've got two jobs.

That starts a more pleasant life for me and my family. I earn more and it's almost double of what I was earning before. With the two jobs, I was able to rent a better house and I was able to buy a motorcycle. We almost never experience hardship with money matters.

When the global financial and business crisis happened in 2008, the courier company also decided to save the business from closing. It slowly firing people, one by one. My friend, the manager was among the personnel who lost their jobs. And of course, being a non-regular employee, I too was relieve, was also fired out.

Four Years in the Courier company

While working with the courier company in Cebu, I was able to know more about the internet world.

Aside from being the one who tasked to migrate the database from DOS-based to Windows-based, I was the one assigned in encoding the daily data communications for the international shipments.

And while doing the assigned regular tasks, i have some time to surf the internet during my free time. Those where the days I came to know and join some social networking sites like Friendster and others which I already left.

Aside from being in front of the computers most of the time, I was also requested by the management, to do courier jobs when the office lacks manpower. I did some delivery works of Japanese newspapers, parcels and other mail matters, including cargoes sometimes. I also did pick-ups of the same items.

One the fourth year of working there, my Aunte from Manila called me up. She asked me to look for the regional head of their department. She told me that she asked that head to look for a job for me.

So I did see the regional head and told me to process my papers for an appointment in the government. And in just a month of waiting, my appointment papers were released and I was way to go.

Migrating to Cebu

It was in October of 1992 when I first came to Cebu, for the company's branch office opening. Though it was just a special assignment as the office's are technical man, I was expecting a more exciting life in the land of the Visayans.

The office turned out unsuccessful due to mismanagement . I say this so, for it was clear that the one who was assigned to run and control the office, never shown interest in the business.

The owner planned of closing the office. He looked for alternatives which could continue the business and not to sacrifice personnel.

One of the staff, who came to be from a family of businessmen, agreed to co-owned which will replace or will continue to run the business. So they both agreed, closing the branch office and put-up a new company.

With the new company, personnel from the old company were forced to resign and may opt to be absorbed. I opted to remain with the new company as I saw a better future. Besides, I wanted to totally get away from problems in Manila, like heavy traffic, not so good weather condition, etc.

The new company gave me almost the same job, but with a heavier responsibility as I have some people to supervise, in the technical department.

The job was great but after six years, I thought there was something lacking. I resigned with the company and became a free-lance computer technician and programmer.

A friend I only met from Cebu, whom also from Manila, hired me to work for the office he was managing at that time. This time, I worked with a courier company.

At that time, I thought of staying in Cebu longer, or for the rest of my life.

First Job in Manila

After graduation, a friend of my father who runs a company in Manila gave me my first job.

The company basically deals with microfilming, selling machines and archiving records. But as they expand the business, they also put in the line some computer related equipments and digital copy machines. The job suits best for the course I took in school.

I was charged to maintain the good condition of machines like microfilm camera, processor, duplicator, and other micro machines. Later in my job, I learned more about computer related things like projectors and digital copy machines.

My assignments were within the metropolis. Maintaining machines at the banks, the security agencies, schools, etc. I was even sent to other cities nationwide, where there are installations and microfilming projects.

For three years, I stayed in Manila to work for the company. But the management decided to put-up a branch office in the south. And that was the next assignment for me, to be the area technical man.

Thirteen Years in School

Yes it's true, I only spent thirteen years in school.

Some people start to go to school at 3 or 4 years old, in the preparatory school. But I started at 7, directly in the elementary, no pre-school for me.

Some goes to college with 5 to 10 years of studying, depending on their course. But what I took-up was a 3-year diploma course in Electronics Technology.

I remember the word, "mom, let me go to school now, it already started and I am not yet enrolled". My friends were already in school but that was about a week then, and I was yet to be enrolled. That's because dad had no money that time for my tuition fees.

My parents never spent so much for school needs. That's because I went to one school campus from 1st Grade up to 4th Year in high school.

The school is located just a few steps away from our house. I can go home for lunch. And parents never have to worry about the school service or for the jeepney fares. That's a lot of savings for them.

It made a lot of difference when I went to Manila to take the course. Though both of
them have jobs, their income were just as enough for the house budget and for my siblings who were left in the province. So they had difficult times to support my tuition fees, the dorm and my daily allowance.

But the years are over. I finished the course. And it's my turn to have a job, and work at my own.

NEILDC: The Birth of the Blogs

It's been a long time since blog was introduced in the internet world. And it's now so popular elsewhere. People from all ages, from all walks of life, are now into blogging. So why don't start mine and so I can also share my life with everybody, worldwide.

This blog site of mine will feature everything about me, my life, my love, my family, and anything else. As they say, everything goes on here.

As a start, I created another site which will only feature one person, my little ZYRUZ, our youngest son. He's currently fighting against sleep apnea, though we haven't proved it. Doctors advise is to put him to a "sleep test" but as of this time, we haven't put up the necessary amount to finance it.

Anyway, I will try to maintain these blog sites in as much as I can. As long as there is available desktop and connection in the office. Or as long as there is internet connection elsewhere, when I am out. As long as I have this mobile phone which I usually use when I am away from my desk. What? Did I say I'm blogging from mobile phone? Yeah, you're right.

From now on, till I don't know when, NEILDC will be online, here, there and everywhere.

PEACE!!!
