It was in October of 1992 when I first came to Cebu, for the company's branch office opening. Though it was just a special assignment as the office's are technical man, I was expecting a more exciting life in the land of the Visayans.
The office turned out unsuccessful due to mismanagement . I say this so, for it was clear that the one who was assigned to run and control the office, never shown interest in the business.
The owner planned of closing the office. He looked for alternatives which could continue the business and not to sacrifice personnel.
One of the staff, who came to be from a family of businessmen, agreed to co-owned which will replace or will continue to run the business. So they both agreed, closing the branch office and put-up a new company.
With the new company, personnel from the old company were forced to resign and may opt to be absorbed. I opted to remain with the new company as I saw a better future. Besides, I wanted to totally get away from problems in Manila, like heavy traffic, not so good weather condition, etc.
The new company gave me almost the same job, but with a heavier responsibility as I have some people to supervise, in the technical department.
The job was great but after six years, I thought there was something lacking. I resigned with the company and became a free-lance computer technician and programmer.
A friend I only met from Cebu, whom also from Manila, hired me to work for the office he was managing at that time. This time, I worked with a courier company.
At that time, I thought of staying in Cebu longer, or for the rest of my life.
